Gratitude, Growth, and Grace: Closing 2025 With an Open Heart

Elga Lejarza reflecting with gratitude at the close of 2025.

As January 1st arrives in just a few hours, I find myself pausing not to rush ahead, but to fully acknowledge what this year has given us. Today is not just the last day of 2025. It is a moment of reflection, gratitude, and deep appreciation for the journey, both the beautiful and the challenging, that brought us here.

This year reminded me of something powerful. Growth rarely arrives without discomfort. Every win, every setback, every unexpected turn carried a lesson. Some lessons felt gentle. Others felt heavy. But all of them shaped us. Personally. Professionally. And as HR professionals, profoundly.

Gratitude for Community and 7,770 Voices

One of the greatest gifts of 2025 has been community. As of today, 7,770 professionals are subscribed to One Minute with Elga, and that number means more to me than words can fully capture.

Behind that number are real people.

HR professionals navigating uncertainty. Leaders making hard decisions. Individuals seeking clarity, reassurance, and confidence. Humans balancing work, family, responsibility, and purpose.

Your presence, your messages, your trust, and your engagement remind me daily why this work matters. I do not take a single one of you for granted. This community is not just growing. It is connected.

Grateful for the Good and the Not So Good

It is easy to express gratitude when things go well. But real growth happens when we also honor the moments that tested us.

2025 brought victories, and it brought challenges. Moments of certainty, and moments of doubt. Periods of momentum, and times that forced us to slow down and reassess.

And yet, every experience taught us something.

What to protect. What to release. What to improve. What truly matters.

Even the difficult moments carried wisdom. They strengthened boundaries. They sharpened judgment. They clarified priorities. For that, I am grateful.

Gratitude in Our Personal Lives

On a personal level, this year reinforced the importance of presence. Of appreciating health, family, time, and the quiet moments we often overlook while chasing the next goal.

Gratitude grounds us. It reminds us that success is not only measured in accomplishments, but also in resilience, kindness, and the ability to keep going, even when the path feels uncertain.

Gratitude in Our Professional Lives

Professionally, 2025 demanded adaptability. HR professionals were asked once again to be steady during change, compassionate during conflict, and precise under pressure.

We showed up. We learned. We adjusted. We carried responsibility with integrity.

That deserves recognition.

Growth in HR is not linear. It is layered. Each year builds on the last, refining judgment, strengthening voice, and deepening credibility. 2025 added another important layer.

Gratitude for the HR Profession

HR is not just a function. It is emotional labor, ethical leadership, and human judgment in action. This year reminded me how vital HR professionals are, even when the work happens quietly and behind the scenes.

Every policy written. Every investigation handled with care. Every difficult conversation navigated thoughtfully. Every employee supported during a vulnerable moment.

That work matters. You matter.

Carrying Gratitude Into 2026

As we close 2025, I invite you to do one simple thing today. Pause. Reflect. Acknowledge how far you have come.

Not just what you achieved, but what you endured, learned, and overcame.

Gratitude does not erase challenges. It gives them meaning.

And when we step into a new year grounded in gratitude, we do not just move forward. We move forward stronger.

Thank you for walking this journey with me. Thank you for trusting me. Thank you for being part of this growing, resilient, and inspiring community.

Here is to closing 2025 with grace and welcoming 2026 with clarity, confidence, and heart.

Warm regards,

Elga Lejarza
